My roommate is reading about Estonian Wife Carrying online. I am concerned about what the internet hath wrought.
‘Defying Gravity’ is a TV show about astronauts from the makers of Grey’s Anatomy and Desperate Housewives. At whom is this show targeted?
It always makes me feel uneasy when I choose to watch Idiocracy instead of, say, reading.

Every now and again, I forget that Eddie Izzard’s standup is really funny. Then some random link on the internet rectifies this.
I am sitting alone in my house, feeling restless and slowly going insane.
Ergh, I burned my face on the grill yesterday (sunburn-style, not grill-lines). When will I learn not to stick my face in fires?
I have a feeling tomorrow’s episode of The Daily Show will be one to remember.

Kegball was a rousing success! Hitting dirty 6th afterward, somewhat less so.
USA goes up 1-0 in the first 10 mins. This game is going to be fun.
Cornyn’s obsession with guns in re: Sotomayor is doing only bad for Texas’ reputation. Luckily Chief Acevedo is a major voice in her support
Finally back in Austin. Time to go find my gear, car, and dinner; not necessarily in that order.

I just caught myself putting books at Barnes and Noble back in their proper places. This does not bode well for my mental health.
Tumblr would be much improved with the addition of some sort of commenting mechanism
Finally got around to listening to NPR’s ‘Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me’ podcast this morning. It’s pretty friggin brilliant.
Oh SCOTUS....
On the list of supreme court justices who invoke my ire, Scalia has traditionally , historically, been, in the past, the worst offender. This week, I would like to congratulate Justice Clarence Thomas for overtaking the Hon. Antonin Scalia as the worst member of our highest court. Thomas has been a rising star on this list for some time now, thanks to his refusal to write or express original...
It amuses me that e-mail is poised to become the new text messaging.
The man has skills
Whilst reading American Gods by Neil Gaiman at lunch today, I was called out by another worker-drone who had apparently just finished it and was working his way through Neverwhere by the same (one of my favorite books around, incidentally). This makes 5 or so times now that I’ve had conversations begin as a consequence of Gaiman’s novels; moreso than with any other author. It seems...
Book Learnin'
I ran across an interesting article on a small blog called inklings (via mgk) about writing in the margins of books; something for which I’ve been chastised more than once. Aside from contributing the term ‘marginalia,’ which is nearly but not quite too twee for me to accept it into my personal slang, the article posits that taking notes in books is significantly less preferable...
Advantage of having my birthday on good friday: Office is closed, so I get my birthday off!
Trying out Tumblr...
…because I am apparently very easily persuaded.
Unfortunately, this means I have to start generating multimedia content that’s more than just the occassional 140-character-wry-observation.
Time will tell.
Off to see if I have any photos that are usable.
